2012, 1484 and Other Apocalypses: the Dynamics of Society

culture and society
Since the Apocalypse failed to occur in 2000, there is a new end of the world being prophesied: December 21, 2012. Apparently, the ancient Mayan calendar “reset” itself on this date, the end of a “Great Cycle” (1). As this date corresponds to a significant astronomical event, the Sun crossing the Equator of the Milky Way, expectations of a ‘new’ apocalypse are on the rise (2). In this context, what strikes me is how a prophecy that has been made more than one thousand years ago by an obscure culture is making headlines today. It made me think about the long lasting power of the millennial tradition in Western culture. Chances are, if nothing of note occurs on 21 December, the attention will be focused on 2060, the date Isaac Newton predicted for the apocalypse (3). Apocalyptic-millennial thinking is nothing new to the West: it has been pervasive for two thousand years or more, and no past ‘failed’ prediction impeded believers to move on to another apocalyptic date. To observe millennial thinking in process and its results, I’m going to briefly look at a “case study”: the Renaissance.

Before proceeding, perhaps it would be useful to differentiate between “apocalypse” and “millenarianism”. Apocalypse refers to the tragic events at the end of days: the emphasis is on catastrophe, suffering, dramatic events, portents and death. Millenarianism, on the other hand, is a belief in the transformation of the world into a better place. I see these as two sides of the same coin: apocalypse is the destructive aspect, and millenarianism the positive, constructive side. They do not have to occur together, but most often they do: a more or less dramatic change has to take place for the world to be transformed.

Let us then wind back to the early days of the Renaissance. The 1300s had already been obsessed with apocalypse and millennialism (4). Yet in the 1400s this fervor was pitched to a new height due to an astrological prophecy called the “great conjunction theory” drawn by an Arabic philosopher named Al-Kindi (5). Al-Kindi based his speculations on the astrological ‘great conjunctions’ between Jupiter and Saturn that occur typically from 20 to 20 years (the last Great Conjunction occurred, incidentally, on May 31, 2000). However, Al-Kindi connected this astrological fact to millennarist beliefs, arguing that once every few centuries major historical change would occur (6). This theory became quite a ‘popular culture’ phenomenon in the era, with famous astrologers like Roger Bacon and Johannes Kepler contributing to the debates. Thus, in 1484 the great conjunction became associated with major millennial and apocalyptic expectations (7,8). Columbus’ discovery of America in 1492 was apparently connected with such millennial beliefs (9). Renaissance itself, as a movement originating in Florence, cannot be divorced from apocalyptic thinking: Marsilio Ficino, the would-be theoretician of the Renaissance, continuously spoke of the coming ‘golden age’ (10).

1484 passed without an apocalypse, but astrologers later observed that it did mark an event with great consequence for Christianity: the birth of Martin Luther (11). In any case, the 1484 prophecies did not cease the apocalyptic vogue of the period: instead, astrologers moved on to another great conjunction, due in 1604 (as a side note, there was a supernova in 1572 that caused widespread apocalyptic predictions as well). In expectation of a major event, a great number of intellectuals of the period devoted themselves to discovering a ‘universal language’ (which came to be accepted as being that of mathematics) and a ‘universal science’ (12). While 1604 did not bring the apocalypse either, it had an impact on the intellectual life of Europe, causing a reformatory fervor. Science itself can attribute at least some of its growth to millennial expectations of the age (13, 14). It was in the framework of ‘millennarist science’ that Newton spent a great deal of his time trying to divine the end of the world.

As Landes observed, all scholarship on millennialism starts from the premise that all apocalyptic prophets have been wrong (15). That may be true from a black and white standpoint. Yet we can only think for a moment the impact that millennial and apocalyptic beliefs have on society. There is the dark side: believers like those of the Heaven’s Gate that committed mass-suicide in expectations of the apocalypse; but there is also a bright side, which encourages activism, soul-searching and positive social change. In the above story, we can see that astrological predictions of the apocalypse or millennium fostered, for instance, the cultural pursuits of the Renaissance, the scientific inquiries of the early modern Europe and enlightened monarchs. In the end, it is perhaps safe to say that millennial thinking has a definite impact on societies by speeding up their dynamic – for good and for bad consequences.

This has been just the beginning of a discussion that could delve into thousands of millennial movements; heavy books have been written on this topic and many more will be. It is certainly a fascinating topic that is linked to our aspirations at an individual and societal level. Whether we like it or not, this topic affects us profoundly. We may not believe that 2012 or 2060 or perhaps some scientific experiment gone wrong as the Large Hadron Collider will be the end of us, but the possible signs of catastrophe cannot fail to move us at a deeper level. What we do with that feeling is up to us – hopefully we can channel it in a positive direction.

Acting School NJ Guide to How to Get Broadway Theater at Great Prices!

Going to a Broadway show, is amongst the most exciting things that you can do in New York. What actually is Broadway though? Well, it’s amongst one of the most exciting theater and musical districts in the whole world! You will find the Netherlander Theater on W41th Street, and Broadway Theatre on W. 53rd St. As well as four other theaters which are also located in the Broadway district.

Respectively, these are Broadway at 53rd St, The Marquis at 46th St. The Winter Garden at 50th St and The Palace at 47th St, with numerous other theatre houses being located amongst a stretch of those twelve blocks. And many of these date back to the late 19th century, so the history of Broadway musicals and Broadway theater in the area is truly astonishing! And over the years, the area has blossomed, as theatre impresarios have moved into the area, and increasingly created a reputation for live broadway show promotions that really deliver the goods in terms of entertainment.

So, if you are going to New York, then one of the things you must do is to visit a Broadway show! And the great news is that you will have a lot of choice. There are 39 theaters on Broadway that have over 500 seats, and so you will never be caught short with nowhere to go, as on any given night, there are over 20,000 seats up for grabs! With this level of competition, it means that there are some great bargains to be had. And if you are not that choosy about which broadway show you wish to see, then you’ll be able to get Broadway Theater, at even better prices.

In most respects, it’s all about supply and demand. The most popular shows WILL be sold out months in advance, and the only realistic advice to get those seats at bargain prices is either to know someone on the cast, have a connection who can get you tickets, or just be extremely lucky on an online auction. Some times, the shows do have returned tickets, but these are in such short supply, and in such high demand, that if you want them you will have to queue outside the theatre’s often for many hours and hope you get lucky. But this is a tactic that is not necessarily conducive to an entertaining evening! (When you are standing outside in the cold for hours!)

One way that you can secure these tickets, is if you get a package deal which includes hotels, flights etc You can often sees these advertised for the more popular shows, like Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King etc where enterprising entrepreneurs, have bought up seats in advance, so that they can offer them as package deals for people who wish to visit the city. You will commonly see these advertised in newspapers, and so you can visit the top-quality shows if you wish, and tickets will always be available, but you may have to pay more for them and get them under such special package deals as this.

Experience Thai Culture at Wat Arun

culture and society
Wat Arun is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand that sees thousands of devotees each day. Built in a prang or Khmer architectural style, Wat Arun’s most significant feature is its distinctively tall spire. As the name implies Wat Arun is the Temple of Dawn, the namesake holds true as the first light of day reflects of the temple surface creating a pearly glow.

The Wat Arun festival which takes place in November each year is centre around this holy temple. In addition to bringing together some of the most talented traditional performance artistes from all over the country, the festival also funds the Wat Arun Conservation Fund.

The first such festival was organized seven years ago under the theme “When History Comes to Life” , in order to revive interest among locals for local traditions & culture, and also as an opportunity to showcase Thai religious practices to tourists. Each year different themes are followed so that the organizer may reveal a different side of Thai culture.

Previous themes have been on the multi-cultural society of Siam, which showcased the tolerance and diversity of multi-ethnic Thailand. Among the usual performances staged at the Wat Arun festival are Khon Chuk Rok (’flying’ Khon court dance), Lakorn Nai, Hun Luang, Lakorn Nok, and Nang Yai which are rarely seen in modern Thailand.

In addition to breathtaking performances, traditional cuisine and local delicacies can be experienced by participants at the festival. In a city that is mostly dominated by modern shopping malls and glamorous night spots, the Wat Arun festival offers a different kind of entertainment for tourists. Located close to the historic Wat Arun complex is are Bangkok serviced apartments that offer excellent accommodation options as well as great access to the city’s sights and sounds.

Laziness Prevails In UK Online Casinos

Like many people, I am lazy and usually find the easiest way to do things and the quickest way to do them. Now for some people they enjoy playing sports, swimming, going shopping, and a few even enjoy a good work out, I am none of these people.

For me my passion has always been gamble and taking risks. Now if gambling and taking risks is your thing there is only one place to go, Las Vegas. I used to make annual trips to Vegas twice a year to visit the casinos and have a good time gambling and hoping to win big. Then I found online casinos.

Online casinos are better for me then going to Vegas to a casino because it give me a buffet to pick what I like from in one trip as opposed to running around to different places to get all the things I crave. See like many gamblers I enjoy all types of gambling including cards, craps, and slots. The problem is many casinos that I have been to make me lose half the day because I am constantly walking back and forth from location to location.

Casinos are massive so many times I end up playing a game I may be tired of just so I don’t have to walk around the building trying to find the game that I actually want to play. Although ever since I found online casinos I have not had that problem. I can play whatever I what whenever I want without ever getting out of my recliner. If I’m playing blackjack and I suddenly get the urge to play the slots its just a click away.

With playing online I don’t have to waste half the day running around a casino floor dodging people every two feet and having to stop and ask for directions. Playing online is easy, it’s fun, and it’s quicker. In today’s world we are always trying to see what’s the laziest, easiest, and quickest way to do something in order to save time and when it comes to gambling online, casinos give you what your want. Now I’m not saying you can’t have fun at a regular casino, but let’s face it people like me and you want what they want and they want it when they want it. And for people like me the online casino experience offered me just that.

Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t go check out Vegas it’s a fun exciting place and it’s great to visit, but if you have a fast pace life style and not a lot of extra time in a day you cant go wrong with gambling online because it gives you all the gaming options of an actual casino just in a faster time. If your like me you get lucky if you have one day a week where you don’t have to go somewhere or do something and I don’t have to worry about making extra time to go to the casino because I can play anytime online.

I’m revealing the winning online casinos UK from the losers. The latest winner is unveiled on my 888 casino on net review.

Learn About the Culture of the Remaining Pygmies of Uganda

culture and society
Some call the the Batwa ,other call them the Bambuti and others call them the originals of Africa.Stone Age disappeared in more than 1000 years ago in Africa, but to my surprise, in some place of Africa and Uganda in particular, some societies are still in Stone Age era.

If you are a book maniac like me, I may think that you have ever read about the pygmies in Africa.

Uganda is among the counties where pygmies are still found. These are found in the districts of Bundibugyo and Kisoro in Western Uganda. While these districts are a far apart, the pygmies in these places behave in the same way.

For example their way of leaving is the same. Those who are found in Bundibugyo district are called the Bambuti and those who are in Kisoro are called the Batwa.

Although those who are found in Kisoro have a bigger group that leave in Rwanda and Burundi, their behavior still takes them to that period of stone age.

Their way of leaving depends mostly on hunting, gathering and begging. Although they are not leaving a nomadic life, they cannot use their land for any use like cultivation and grazing.

They are the most primitive in any way and it is of recent that they were forced to come out of the forest they were leaving in.

Their language in not even known by the people who are leaving near them. In a place like Bundibugyo, they are leaving in a camp where the government and the none governmental organizations are feeding them and may be in future they will change their way of leaving.

But I still dought this because these people don’t intermarry with other people because those who leave near them despise them and for that matter unless the government takes decisive actions, nothing will change their way of leaving in the near future.

Forget Vegas - Visit UK Casinos Online

Hundreds of thousands of people visit Nevada’s sin city every year. They come to Las Vegas from all around, near and far, continental residents and international guests. They dump billions of dollars into casino after casino after casino in hopes of winning big and being able to quit their jobs. The problem is in order to break even in Vegas you need to score big because if the casino floor doesn’t take your money the traveling, hotel and sites and attraction will. So in order to make what your trip costs in most cases if nearly impossible for most people.

The solution to this phenomena is easy, gamble online. Gambling online saves those extra expenses and thus gives you more money to play with. The big question on everyone’s mind is, is it rigged?

To these people I ask you to consider this, is there anyway you know one hundred percent when you go into a real casino that it’s not in fact rigged? The answer to this is that of course it’s not rigged if no one could win no one would continue to play. Most online casino’s use a one hundred and twenty bit encryption software making them impossible to crack.

This means that you don’t have to worry about cheating or someone else spending your money or getting your credit card number. Online casinos were made to cater to those people who don’t have a lot of extra money to go to Vegas. With being able to gamble online you can enjoy yourself at home.

As for being rigged however you have the same if not a better chance of winning from home then you do in an actual casino. Also when you play from home its easier to walk away and stop playing whenever you want . In a land based casino it’s harder to walk away or leave because you lose track on time.

When your sitting in your living room its easy to tell what time it is and how long you’ve been playing by what show is on, how dark it is compared to when you started, or maybe you just have a clock hanging on your wall.

Most land based casino are very limited in the amount of clocks they have because they don’t want you to know how long you’ve been playing because then you’ll lose track of time and continue to put money on the table until you get to exhausted to even move.

Land based casinos know that if you lose track of time you won’t get up until you can barely move because then you have to fight through all the people when you try to get out. They also know that it is human instinct for people to wait to leave till the crowd dies down and while your waiting yours still playing so your involuntarily playing while your waiting to leave, you don’t have that problem playing from home when your done your done and you just walk into your bedroom and go to bed there’s no pressure to continue to play.

I’m revealing the winning online casinos UK from the losers. The latest winner is unveiled on my 888 review.

Volunteer in Ecuador, Galapagos and Cultural Must See

culture and society
Ecuador is situated in the Northwestern side of South America and along the Pacific Ocean coastline. Ecuador is an extremely beautiful place like most of South America is and is home to the highest active volcano in the world - Cotopaxi. There are several UNESCO World Heritage Sites but the most popular place is the Galapagos Islands. Tourism is one of the most important factors driving the Ecuador economy but it is not one of the most prosperous countries in South America.

Why Volunteer In Ecuador

Volunteering in Ecuador is a different experience altogether where you will get to revel at some of the most beautiful landscapes and pristine beaches and at the same time feel sympathetic towards the children and youth who need to be taken care of. As a volunteer in Ecuador, you will get the opportunity to mingle with the local population and get a crash course on their culture, eating and living habits and the various traditions. Ecuador offers different types of volunteer projects and many of them are targeted at rescuing wildlife and animal conservation.

Types Of Projects Available

As a part of volunteering in Ecuador, you will get to choose the kind of project you are interested in. The different types if projects available include:

1. Galapagos Conservation: If you love the environment and wildlife then this is the perfect volunteering opportunity for you. The Galapagos Island is a main revenue generator for Ecuador where tourism is concerned. There are different types of volunteer programs available on Galapagos Islands like the re-establishment of native plant species, and the Galapagos national park patrolling work. This type of volunteer work includes lobster catch monitoring along with regular patrolling, logistic support, and coastal clean-up programs.

2. Environmental Education: There is so much of area under forest cover in Ecuador that people have to double their efforts to keep the environment safe. We are living in a world where de-forestation has destroyed huge green and forested areas including 3/4th of the Amazon forest. Hence, it is important to educate people so that we can save whatever forested area is remaining on this planet. As a volunteer in Ecuador, you will be responsible for spreading the word around to save the environment. You will be working with environmentalists on various research programs and on planning different ways of saving the environment and reducing the current levels of environmental pollution.

3. Educational Rehabilitation: As a volunteer in Ecuador, you will get the opportunity to work with various educational rehabilitation centers that focuses on primarily community development. You will get hands on experience in various aspects of community development and how you can make a difference there.

4. Orphanages: There are several Ecuador volunteer programs targeted at providing education, and health care facilities to hundreds of orphaned children. In the last decade or so, there has been an immense spike in the population growth in Ecuador and this has also brought about disparity of income and led to a higher population of abandoned children. Due to lack of government resources and support, lack of education, healthcare, and poverty these children’s have nowhere to go. You can as a volunteer bring hope into their lives and provide mental support and an environment for them to grow in.

Volunteer Requirements

Age: The minimum age for volunteering in Ecuador should be 18 or older. For conservation projects, the maximum age limit is 50.

Duration: The standard duration of most projects is 5-8 weeks although they can also vary from 1-2 weeks or 9-12 weeks.

Fitness: A high level of fitness is required for working in wildlife and conservation projects.

Language: Spanish, English

Fee and Other details

There is a fee attached to each of the projects that you volunteer for. The fee is charged in advance and is charged for the following:

1. Accommodation

2. Emergency evacuation services

3. Food/meals

4. Travel insurance

5. Transportation within the region

6. Emergency support

7. All types of training material

8. Supervision by local staff

9. Orientation on arrival

10. Local sightseeing & recreational activities

Conclusion

Volunteering in Ecuador will be quite challenging but then it also offers plenty of travel and recreation opportunities. Working in a place that is surrounded by spectacular landscape and in an environment driven by inspiring people, this is a volunteering experience that you will learn a lot from. You will be able to give to the community in Ecuador and also take some from the community.

Internet Casinos Are Online All The Time

Most people will never be able to visit an actual casino, but that doesn’t mean they have to miss out on the experience. You can now go online and visit online casinos that allow the majority of the same things you could get from going to an actual casino. Online casinos are used more often by young adults and the elderly than by middle aged people.

The reason that young adults and the elderly are the primary customers to online casinos is simple, the young adults don’t have money for travel and the elderly can’t travel very well. So in order for them to be able to gamble and have a good time they play online.

For many young adults travel is a luxury they don’t have due to school or just getting started in the work place and trying to establish a career and a life, so by being able to play online they can get the fun of a land based casino without having to travel.

On the same flip of the coin, elderly adults can find it hard to get around their homes sometimes let alone endure long distance travel and having to walk around a big casino. The third type of adults, the middle aged adults, do not play on online casinos very much because of their already busy schedules. Many middle aged adults have the stress of managing a job and supporting a family to attend to and so do not have much extra money that they can afford to use to gamble online or in a casino. that’s why the majority of this group that plays are women. Women who play in online casinos are usually stay at home wives, or mothers who need something to do occasionally to pass the time. For them going to a casino would take more time then they have between activities so playing online is easier and more convenient and what overall fits their needs best.

The reason online casinos benefit all these types of adults is because it fits into all their schedules and needs without really hurting their wallets or cramping their agendas. Online casinos really benefits anyone who has a credit card because it’s easy to set up an account and you can play between classes, after meetings, on your lunch break and so on without losing a lot of time that you lose by having to go to a land based casino.

Online casinos are better than land based casinos in just about every way you can think of. They are fun, easy to use and understand, the way it works is simple and easy to figure out and follow and it is easy to find the time to play when travel is not involved. So I do not think that there is anyone who would not recommend a online casino to a friend, because if you love to gamble and have fun, but just don’t have the extra time to actually go to a casino it is an easy way to get the experience.

I’m revealing the winning online casinos UK from the losers. The latest winner is unveiled on my 888 casino review.

What Is Pop Culture?

culture and society
Pop culture is, put simply, the events, people, fads, and trends that capture the public imagination. It is also a term used to describe current cultural trends, and cultural trends of the past that have achieved enduring status. Cultural icons can be anything, even cartoon characters, like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and other classic Disney characters. Cultural icons can also be political figures, athletes, celebrities, and people who have somehow achieved notoriety in less conventional ways. Examples would be lottery winners, criminals, inventors, and similar types of people or groups of individuals. Animals can achieve cultural icon status as well, either because of their celebrity status, like Lassie, Benji, or Flipper, or because of their association with a human celebrity, like Paris Hilton’s Tinkerbelle or the little dogs that Britney Spears was seen carrying around for a while.

Traditionally, pop culture has held the most appeal for the younger demographic, but has been thoroughly ingrained into society to the point that it is drawing attention from people of all ages. Pop Culture seminars, studies, and academic careers based on the study of pop culture are all commonplace nowadays, particularly since the Internet has evolved into such a ubiquitous source of information. Theories about the impact of this concept range from the belief that it is a substitute for traditional family and religious values to the theory that pop culture is a shared history that links people together. A lot of pop culture history is tied to the popularity of the television, which first made its appearance in the early 1950’s.

The term was first used in the 1950’s, but did not really gain popularity until much later, when media saturation made it easier for people to spot and follow trends. Websites that chronicle pop culture through the decades also make mention of news events, trends, and celebrity news of the era, and these are the same things that make up pop culture today.

If you think back to a popular fashion trend, a music group, or an event that made news in your lifetime, than you can see just how much of an impact pop culture really has. Whether you agree that it has a deeper social significance or not, it is clear that events, people, and circumstances do serve as a way to connect people. And without pop culture, we wouldn’t have the Hula Hoop, Silly Putty, slap bracelets, or any of the other innovations that people take for granted.

Interracial Dating – How Do You Date Outside Your Culture Without Betraying Your Roots?

culture and society
The public’s outlook on socially and culturally sensitive issues such as interracial dating is changing with time. After the legalization of interracial marriages in 1967 to the current legalization of gay marriages, it is evident that, given time, society learns to accept change. Interracial dating and romance is more popular and is becoming well established throughout North American society. Interracial daters are generally contented with the knowledge that they can both maintain their own culture as well as learn another.

Learning a new culture doesn’t make interracial couples feel like they are betraying their roots. In fact, more often than not, parents are the one who stress their children into not abandoning their culture by not dating interracially. However, when it comes to other people outside the relationship, most individuals are willing to accept interracial dating or multicultural dating. However, when it endangers their own customs and beliefs, those same individuals are against it. Many parents are concerned that interracial dating will somehow dilute their own culture and will threaten the preservation of their cultural beliefs. And to them, the only way to control the weakening of their cultural bonds is to restrict the actions of their children i.e. prevent them from dating interracially or outside of their culture. They feel that falling in love with someone of a different culture might make their children sacrifice their own traditions in order to make the relationship work.

Technically, it’s not the place of the parents to make such decisions. Realistically, the parents have the power to decide as many children fear disapproval or even worse, isolation.

The best way for interracial couples to deal with their differences in culture is to compromise. It sometimes is the best way to bridge the gap between the varying ethnicities. Choosing the most important traditions from each culture, and including parents’ opinions, will allow the partners and their parents to feel equally significant in the interracial relationship and the blending of cultures. Much as the parents may never be entirely happy with the choices their child has made, at least they won’t feel like they are being stripped of their family roots.Couples from different cultural backgrounds usually aren’t uptight about learning new customs and traditions. New partners may readily accept the challenge of engaging in the practices of different cultural groups.

Exposure to new customs doesn’t mean one leaves their roots behind. Our cultures make us who we are, and that can never be taken away. And blending your culture and your interracial love’s culture is what will make you who you are in your interracial union.

Learn How To Get The Most Out Of Your Interracial Online Dating Service

Gaining the maximum enjoyment out of your interracial online dating service will be the difference between staying on your own, or meeting someone special. The first point that needs to be sorted out is electing the right web site that will give you what you’re after. This is where your free trials will be used to give you an edge over your competition.

With so many interracial dating services to choose from you can create a free membership on more than one of them. Just becoming a member to one web site will restrict you to what you will find out about your approach to online dating.

Creating an account at more then one web site will allow you to experiment with different sections of your profile. With your free trials created at more than one dating service you can post a unique photo at each web site. This allows you to see which type of photo gets a better response rate from other interracial singles. The one where you think you look the most attractive in might not be the one that attracts other singles. Just make sure they can easily see how you look in each of the photos. And also make sure you’re in the photos on your own.

Another advantage of joining two or three dating web sites allows you to see which one has the most singles local to you. This will offer you a bigger choice of like minded singles. You’ll also get more messages sent to you while you’re on your guest membership.

Being a little bit open minded with your search choices will offer you a lot more singles in your search results. If you’re after that perfect interracial single you’re not going to have much to choose from on any dating web site.

Your guest membership will last as long as you need it too. Don’t pay for your membership until you’re ready to start writing emails to other singles at the dating web site that you feel will give you a bigger choice of results.

Upgrading too early can cause you to opt for the wrong online dating web site, and that will just make you want to quit online dating altogether.

The most important part of being part of an interracial online dating web site is to have fun. When you’re having fun the other singles that you contact and chat to will have fun. This will make you more well known which will lead to you creating more new friends, and meeting possible love interests.

Rules For Successful Online Dating

The very first do and rule, that is, to online dating is creating a great personal statement to speak for you. Whether your intention is finding new romance or just friendship, online dating service is the best place to start a quest.

Finding a match is full of excitement and fun. It does not have to be difficult. You fill out a simple questionnaire to describe yourself, interests, age, and activities.

Describing yourself is the most important part because this becomes your personal statement to match you to a partner. Let the true you stand out. You may tell a joke, describe your dream date or simply highlight the most interesting things about you to make a marked impression. Here are some hints that come handy to finally meet the man/woman of your dreams.

Do show the qualities you want the opposite sex to notice the most. Elaborate a humorous comment than just stating I am funny, supplement it with a joke, and see the impact it creates.

Leave something intriguing about yourself, comic, sweet or poetic wise usually interest people and let them wonder what you mean. Do not state the obvious; let them discover it.

Quirky or strikingly unconventional things will give you an edge among the others. Do emphasize on the most effective element of your character, if you have passion about some things or if you are repugnant.

Whatever your purpose is for joining the dating site, love or friendship, do decide on what you really wanted and do make yourself loud and clear. It usually attracts people with the same intentions.

Do not post your profile without going over it. You would not want to end up like a desperate dater.

Do not grow tired of changing your personal profile. It does not matter how many times the need be, but the thing is this is all about you. So do style and tailor it in a certain fashion to bring forth the kind of reactions you want to receive.

Do express warm thoughts to your date. This is going to cross the personnals mind and think of you as the most interesting being he/she has ever met.

Do put humor in your words. It is not what you say but how you say it and make sure you leave some room for whatever suggestions the person may have.

In the process, do try to get to know your online date to avoid any discouraging experience since the purpose is to enjoy and have fun, and finally find friendship and love.

Do set your own dating rules, have something to be placed on the scale. This avoids confusion later on since some people have their own ideologies to follow.

Do be attentive and ask questions. Your interest is to maintain attention.

For men, do all the things that make you a gentleman. Chivalry still works and still remains as the best charm online and offline. But do not over do it as if proving your machismo.

Before saying goodbye on first online date, express the appreciation of talking to the person, just to show you had a good time. This does not necessarily mean to be a proposal for another online dating encounter, it is a kind deed.

Great Tips To Online Dating Success

You may be too busy in your day to day life to date the traditional way or you may be tired of the whole bar scene and are looking for a new alternative.

Web Dating is a great substitute for traditional dating because you can expand your options from the local people in your area to people all around the world and all in less time than offline dating.

But what website can you trust? How do you make a good profile? Where do you even begin? Not to worry, here are three tips to online dating success.

1. Create a Truthful Profile

Always be truthful when creating a profile and spell out exactly what you are looking for. You do not want everyone and anyone to reply to you so do not create a vague profile. Spell out your needs and wants. You will attract people who want the same thing.

Also, always be truthful. Do not lie about your age, weight or any other personal information. Despite what you think there are people like you paying the online dating game too. Misleading people will only waste your time.

2. Find an Online Dating Service That is Right For You

There are hundreds, even thousands of online dating websites to choose from all over the internet. With tons of choices to choose from you may become paralyzed with confusion.

There many types of dating services out there, but as you browse through a sample of the selection think about which one is right for you. Go to online dating forums and search for feedback on various dating websites. Sometimes a well known online dating service wont exactly fit what you are seeking. Notice what kind of people are at this service and what they are seeking.

3. Imagine the Perfect Profile

As you browse through profiles keep in mind what you are looking for. Are you looking for a long term relationship or something else? Think about what this person you are looking for look like. Imagine their personality, their interests, etc. If you lay the groundwork on the type of person you are looking for before you play the online dating game you will have an easier time finding them and you will be more aware of the person you are searching for.

If you take enough time to find an online dating service which fits you, create a profile that gets the kind of attention you want and imagine the person you are looking for before you search than you make the online dating game easier for yourself and more fun than traditional dating.

Cultural Awareness

culture and society
So much of our life is a result of acculturation and the pressures of societal mores. Everyone of us is a product of his or her environment to some degree. The problem is, we seldom know to what extent our decisions are not ours but theirs (culture).

We are no longer in touch with nature nor attuned to the more subtle levels of reality.

Mayan and other ancient cultures didn’t have to worry about the clutter of noise and other distractions that so invade out lives these days. It’s near impossible to attain, let alone understand, Psalms 46:10 (Be STILL and know that I AM God). As society has invaded the “down-under”, the life of the aborigines has been altered.

There’s a quantum cosmology awaiting our re-discovery.

The traditions and lore of Australia’s indigenous peoples belongs to what may be the oldest continuous culture on Earth (50,000 years). Indigenous Australian peoples conceive of all things beginning with Dreamtime. The expression Dreamtime was coined in 1899 by Spencer and Gillen (who conducted formative anthropological work on Australian prehistory). “Dreamtime” is often used as a collective term for all the Dreamings of the indigenous peoples in general.

The West particularly has forfeited awarness of our surroundings and who we are for more intellectual, empirical, and rationalitic thought processes. And we’re more impoverished as a result. There’s a spiritual intelligence that we greatly need to embrace today.

The Mayan and Toltec civilizations were more ONE with the universe and it provided them with details about the universe that our modern-day scientists are only recently discovering, which makes me wonder what they also knew that we’re not yet smart enough to know. Maybe we are now headed back to such a state of consciousness. Our very lives are dependent upon it.

Maybe we’ll then discover who we are when we remember who we’ve been!
